The guesthouse offers 24-hour reception. In-person check-in is available until 5:00 PM; for arrivals after this time, please notify us in advance for better accommodation. Quiet hours start at 8:00 PM.

Arrivals from 9:00 AM and departures until 3:00 PM may be allowed at no extra charge, depending on suite availability. Please request at least one day in advance. For children up to 2 years old, we provide a crib upon prior request.

ABOUT ACCESS, CHECK-IN, AND CHECK-OUT

Check-in: From 2:00 PM, in person at the reception desk, which is open 24 hours. Photo identification for all guests must be submitted up to 72 hours before arrival, in accordance with data protection regulations. IDs will be verified at reception. If you plan to arrive after 5:00 PM, please notify us in advance.

Check-out: By 12:00 PM. If there are no incoming guests for your room, you may depart as late as 3:00 PM at no additional charge. Please return the keys at reception, switch off all equipment, and dispose of waste properly before leaving. Departures more than 30 minutes late without prior notice will be charged an additional daily rate.

THE LENÇÓIS MARANHENSES

The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (PNLM) covers the municipality of Barreirinhas and was established in June 1981. It spans an area of 155,000 hectares, with 90,000 hectares consisting of shifting white sand dunes and seasonal lagoons formed by rainwater.

Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Bonita are among the largest lagoons in the region, featuring pristine natural pools with crystal-clear waters. The park is home to coastal scrub, vast expanses of moving dunes, and a long stretch of ocean coastline. It attracts visitors from all over the world throughout the year.

Barreirinhas, the most well-known city near Lençóis Maranhenses, is located 250 km from São Luís, the capital of Maranhão, and serves as the main base for those looking to explore the area.

Fascinating facts about Lençóis Maranhenses:

Temporary lagoons and fleeting life: The lagoons at Lençóis Maranhenses are not permanent. They appear during the rainy season (usually from January to June) when fresh water gathers between the impermeable dunes. As the rains end and the water evaporates, many lagoons dry up, reappearing with the next rainy season.

Resilient fish: Despite being isolated, some fish species survive in the freshwater lagoons. One theory suggests their eggs endure the dry season in moist mud, hatching when the rains return. Another possibility is that birds carry eggs stuck to their legs. This highlights the incredible adaptability of life in a challenging environment!

The dance of the dunes: The dunes are always moving! Powerful winds, especially during the dry season, continuously shift the dunes, creating new shapes and hiding or revealing lagoons. The scenery is never the same and is in constant transformation.

A desert with water: Although it may appear to be a desert, Lençóis Maranhenses receives significant rainfall during the wet season. This rare combination of abundant water and strong winds creates the stunning lagoons that define the region.

Influence of the Preguiças River: The Preguiças River, bordering the western edge of the park, plays a role in forming Lençóis Maranhenses by transporting sediments from inland. When these sediments reach the ocean, winds reshape them, forming dunes along the coast.

TRANSPORTATION

By plane: Barreirinhas Airport (BRB) offers regular flights with Azul (three times a week during high season). Alternative: São Luís Airport (SLZ) plus a 4-hour transfer via BR-135/MA-402.

Transfers: We provide complimentary transfers from Barreirinhas Airport to the guesthouse (check schedule and availability). Transfers from São Luís are available for an additional fee.

Getting around Barreirinhas: Taxis, quad bikes, and authorized 4x4 vehicles are available for tours in the park. Free parking is provided at the guesthouse.
